Ingredients
  

Onion Rings

  • 2 large yellow onions Sliced into ½ inch rings
  • 2 cups panko
  • ½ cup flour for dusting

Batter

  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • 2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • With a sharp knife, remove the outer skins of the onions. Slice each onion into ½ inch thick rings and push out the individual rings.
  • Into a large bowl, place ½ cup of flour.
  • In a second bowl, combine ½ cup flour, 1 cup of milk, and 1 egg. Whisk together until a batter forms. Add brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, smoked paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • In a third bowl, add 2 cups of panko.
  • Coat each ring in flour, then dip into the batter and coat in panko. Place on a sheet tray.

Frying

  • Place a frying pan over medium-high heat and add about 1 cup of canola oil. Once heated, gently drop your rings in and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel lined tray. Season each with kosher salt.
  • Serve hot with a dip of your choosing!
