For the rim (optional)
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 lime wedge
For the margarita
- Ice
- 2 ounces reposado or silver tequila
- 2 ounces apple cider or unfiltered apple juice
- 1 ounce cranberry juice cocktail such as Ocean Spray
- ½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice (½ medium lime)
- 3 thin apple slices for garnish (optional)
- 3 fresh or frozen cranberries for garnish (optional)
If you’d like a sugared rim, stir 1 teaspoon granulated sugar and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon together on a small, flat plate; spread into an even layer. Run 1 piece over the rim of an old-fashioned or margarita glass to moisten. Invert the glass into the cinnamon sugar, turning it as needed, to coat the rim.
Fill the glass with ice.
Place 2 ounces reposado tequila, 2 ounces apple cider, 1 ounce cranberry juice cocktail, and ½ ounce lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker halfway with ice. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is very cold and frosty, about 20 seconds.
Pour through a strainer into the glass. Garnish with 3 thin apple slices and 3 cranberries if desired.
